Saturday started slow due to the multiple glasses of wine I had on Friday night. My husband and I finally got our act together around 1pm and went for a walk. We headed across the Park to the Upper East Side and had lunch at The Corner Cafe and Bakery on Madison between 89th and 90th. It was OK but overpriced, and they were severely laking in vegetarian options. Inside the cafe they had beautiful light fixtures that were actually strainers suspended by gold chains. Such a brilliant idea and they looked fantastic. This is a simple DIY and a great solution for decorating on a dime.
We then walked back towards the park with the intention of going to the Guggenheim, but it turns out that a majority of their galleries are under renovation for the next few weeks and most of the museum was closed, so we decided we would come back when everything reopens.
We came home to a cat that spent most of the day on the radiator. I don't blame her, it's so warm.
For dinner we headed to a Mediterranean restaurant on Amsterdam and 80th called Monaco. It was awesome! We started with the Grilled Calamari and the Homemade Humus. For entrees my husband had the Nova Scotia Salmon Fillet and I had the Feta Spinach Mediterranean Cigars and Caesar Salad. The food was fabulous and the atmosphere was romantic, laid-back and cozy. After dinner we went to Crumbs Bakery where I got the monster cupcake pictured below. This is their S'Mores cupcake, and let me just say, it tasted every bit as good as it looked! Weekends are the best!
