Tom Shannon Pendulum Paintings

Tom Shannon is a Manhattan based artist who creates paintings using a remote-controlled pendulum suspended above the canvas holding different colors of paint. He swings the pendulum in circles and the paint drips down onto the canvases below. He also creates magnetically suspended large-scale sculptures, but his pendulum paintings are by far my favorite. They have been praised for creating pattern out of chaos. The work hints at great artists that came before him, most notably Jackson Pollock. Here are some photos of his work.
