Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!

My husband and I had a very low key Thanksgiving, just the two of us. On Wednesday night we went out to dinner at a fantastic restaurant on the Upper West Side called The Hi-Life Bar and Grill. Their menu is a mix of American food and sushi (sounds weird but it works). I had nachos and the veggie burger with sweet potato fries (I was really hungry), and the drinks were great! I had two Hi-Life martinis, which had a splash of pomegranate juice and came with rock candy in the drink as a stirrer (this made me inexplicably happy).

On the way home from the restaurant we walked by 80th and 81st between Columbus and Central Park West, which is where they inflate all the large balloons for the Thanksgiving parade. It was pretty neat to see but packed with people so we couldn't get very close.

For Thanksgiving, we woke up early and walked through Central Park to check out the parade (photos below). Then we went to Zabars and got some pre-packaged Thanksgiving food (beans, yams, cranberry sauce, and duck (for the husband, since I don't eat meat)). I made phenomenal veggie spring rolls to go with the meal (recipe to follow).  Then we watched the Green Bay Packers game and took a nap. It was a relaxing, food-filled holiday!
